Policy Statement

(Last updated March, 2024)

Massage Ingenuity thoroughly appreciates you choosing our facility for your massage and bodywork session.  It is our absolute intention to provide our guests top notch care and the most therapeutic and professional massage possible.  In order to accomplish this, the time scheduled for your massage session is time set aside solely for you.  In our commitment to provide the most outstanding and optimal session to all of our clients, we would like to communicate the following guidelines and policies with you.

Arrival

Please arrive at least five minutes before your scheduled appointment. This allows you time so that you may transition from an active busy mode to a more relaxed, unhurried mode enhancing your massage experience. From the business and therapists’ standpoint, it gives us the full allotment of time to actually massage your body, keeps our practice on schedule, and respects the next client’s scheduled time slot.

Late Arrivals

Of course, we understand that unforeseen events occur such as last minute meetings, deadlines, traffic considerations, family births or deaths, sickness and the like.

If you are running late, it helps us a great deal if you call and let us know.  We will do our best to accommodate you if time allows; however, we may have to shorten your session.  Full price will be charged for the actual scheduled time.  In return, we will make every effort to run on time.  If for some reason we are not, we will give you the time back during your massage or adjust the price of the session itself.  Please let us know if you have time constraints we need to work within.

Cancellation/No Show Policies

If you need to reduce your appointment time, reschedule or cancel your massage session for any reason, we kindly ask that you provide us at least 24 hours notice.  This gives us enough time to try and fill your time slot.  For cancellations with less than 24 hours before your scheduled appointment, we will do our best to fill your time slot.  If we are unable to do so or you fail to show up for a scheduled appointment altogether, we reserve the right to charge you, and you agree to pay the full amount for your missed appointment.  If you were planning to redeem a gift certificate and do not show up or provide us with enough notice where we are successfully able to fill your massage time, you agree to forfeit your massage certificate.

Recognizing that we do set aside the scheduled time just for you and if you do not show up our therapists are not compensated for their time as well as seeing that we do have other clients to consider and a smoothly running business to maintain, we do reserve the right to charge for the previously mentioned sessions as well as ask for repeat offenders to guarantee their appointment with a credit card.  Refusal to provide us with the credit card information in this case will, unfortunately, have to result in the termination of our relationship.

We do understand that sometimes emergencies and illnesses do indeed occur.  If you or your children have a medical reason, a death in the family, or some other life altering or emergency type event, please communicate with us as we may at our discretion waive the appointment fee.  In cases of extreme weather conditions, if you do not feel safe traveling to our office, feel free to call and reschedule your appointment.  There would not charge for this type of cancellation.

Informed Consent & Scope of Practice

Prior to your first session, you shall receive an email confirming your massage appointment.  Within this email you will find a link to fill out a health intake form which will include informed consent, office policies, and a HIPAA/communication authorization.  Filling this out prior to your session helps to insure that you are able to receive the full allotment of time for your massage.  If, however, you do not fill out the form online, you may do so before your session begins.  You may sign a physical or electronic copy of these documents stating that you have read the information, understand it, and agree to comply with the professional massage therapy policies and procedures.  Additionally, you may be asked to update and resign these forms once a year.

Massage Ingenuity’s therapists are licensed massage and bodywork practitioners within the state of North Carolina.  They also are held to the highest standards of the professional organizations to which they may belong including but not limited to the American Massage Therapy Association, Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals, and the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.  Massage and bodywork therapy is a profession in which the practitioner may apply manual and energetic techniques with the intention of positively affecting the health and well-being of each client.  By signing the informed consent document, you understand that the massage and bodywork you receive is provided for the basic purpose of relaxation and relief of muscular tension. If you experience any pain or discomfort during your session, you will immediately inform the practitioner so that the pressure and/or strokes may be adjusted to your level of comfort. You further understand that massage or bodywork should not be construed as a substitute for medical examination, diagnosis, or treatment and that you should see a physician, chiropractor, or other qualified medical specialist for any mental or physical ailment of which you are aware. You understand that massage/bodywork practitioners are not qualified to perform spinal or skeletal adjustments, diagnose, prescribe, or treat any physical or mental illness, and that nothing said in the course of the session given should be construed as such. Because massage/bodywork should not be performed under certain medical conditions, you affirm that you have stated all your known medical conditions and answered all questions honestly. You agree to keep the practitioner updated as to any changes in your medical profile and understand that there shall be no liability on the practitioner’s part should you fail to do so. You also understand that any illicit or sexually suggestive remarks or advances made by you will result in immediate termination of the session, and you will be liable for the full payment of the scheduled appointment.
